Not sure that I totally agree with this selection but in any case:

Article in the Toronto Star.
Remember the singer that I missed for "Girl I love You" on Heligoland

Serpents Kiss and Anaconda
Weird selection on my iPOD today:
- Snap
- Audioslave - "Teach me how to live"
- Portishead - "Over"
- Cocteau Twins -> Still can't understand what she is singing
- The Mission - "Serpents Kiss" -> That is the Anaconda reference.
I still don't know what the relationship between The Mission and Sisters of Mercy is. I like both.

Don't Kill it Carol
Funny thing in the car. Manfred Mann's "Don't Kill it Carol" - the usual keyboard solo starts and my wife goes disgusted: "What is that? That sounds like the Jethro Tull music that you have on your iPOD"
Heligoland - Massive Attack
I have been a huge fan of Massive Attack since they started. The Bristol Sound or Trip Hop really was something that impressed me. Now they came back after all these years and created Heligoland. I pre-ordered and downloaded the album as soon as it came out. And then - nothing. Heard the beginning of one song and basically avoided listening to the rest. For weeks.
Now, I have to admit after getting back that there are some Gems in this:
- Girl I love you -> Great sound and one of the Singers that the band used before (Sorry forgot his name)
- Paradise Circus
- United Snakes -> The title had me.
Anyway, I think the time of Trip Hop is over but if you love nostalgia and/or are a hard core fan you will have fun listening.
BTW, I heard they will be in Toronto this week. Massive Attack concerts are usually pretty good (Just don't expect the original singers to be around). A few years ago I was in Hamburg at one of their concerts and the guitar solo at Eurochild was just a killer. Ten minutes guitar solo. Same accord for the full ten minutes.
